About us
Bennett & Hargrove CPA was founded in 1987 when Robert Bennett left a Big Eight firm in Seattle to open a practice rooted in the Portland community he called home. His vision was straightforward: deliver the technical sophistication of a large firm with the personal relationships of a neighborhood practice.
Claire Hargrove joined the firm in 1994, quickly becoming the region's most sought-after advisor for estate and trust matters. When she became a named partner in 2001, the firm's reputation for discretion, depth, and generational thinking was cemented.
Today we serve more than 500 individuals and families, closely held businesses, non-profits, and fiduciaries throughout Oregon and the Pacific Northwest — many of them clients who have been with us for twenty years or more.

Robert founded Bennett & Hargrove in 1987 after a decade with a Big Eight firm in Seattle, bringing institutional expertise to Portland's growing business community. With more than 37 years of practice, he specializes in complex individual taxation, closely held business planning, and long-term client relationships that span generations.
Partner, Estate & Trust Services
Claire joined the firm in 1994 and became a named partner in 2001, building one of Portland's most respected estate and trust practices from the ground up. She works alongside attorneys and financial planners to craft tax-efficient estate plans for high-net-worth families and fiduciaries throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Senior Manager, Business Advisory
Daniel joined Bennett & Hargrove in 2015 after seven years in public accounting at a regional firm in Eugene, bringing deep expertise in business valuation, ownership transitions, and financial modeling. He serves as the day-to-day advisor for the firm's established business clients, guiding them through growth decisions, succession planning, and audit engagements.
